Enterprise & Capacity Development
PISP is developing areas including human resource development; (financial) sustainability including Income Generating Activities; Planning, Monitoring & evaluation; information and communication technology (ICT); need for a field office as well as management and governance development. The objective of this focus area is to make PISP a strong (reputable, accountable, transparent and sustainable organization) organization offering relevant services to its beneficiaries into the foreseeable future.

The activities under this focus area is clustered as presented in the following sections:
1. Planning Monitoring & Evaluation(PME)
- Develop and implement a PME framework
- Staff training on PME – formats, procedures, reporting, documentation etc
- Regular joint (quarterly/annual) planning, review and reporting
- Documentation & Dissemination – case studies, research, newsletters etc.
- Develop a recording and filing/back up system, both for electronic and hard copy data.
2. Sustainability (Programme, Organizational & Financial)
- Practice strategic management e.g. regular strategic & financial planning/reviews.
- Results based management e.g. assign responsibilities & targets for fund raising & PME
- Improve donor relations through visits, round tables & proper reporting (results)
- Diversification of funding i.e. increase number of donors and volume of funding
- Enhance marketing- website, visibility, publicity, image building, and networking.
- Effective communication/ negotiation with donors especially on contract terms.
- Be in tandem with developments in the donor sectors/ funding trends.
- Pursue organizational approach and negotiate for basket funding with key donors.
- Practice good financial management (e.g. proper planning, reporting, healthy balance sheet, investment policy & clarity on donor conditions)
- Creating reserves – develop policies for these, engage in low risk investments and develop and negotiate for asset replacement funds.
- Draw strategies and fundraise for the establishment of a field office.
3. Staff/Board Development
- Develop/upgrade and operationalise organizational policies and or manuals.
- Undertake regular staff appraisals & review of job descriptions/specifications.
- Acquire, develop and motivate/maintain desired quantities and quality of staffing.
- Management and leadership (style) development.
- Governance development including accountability and board development
- Staff training on various areas
- ICT development (networking, VSAT, MIS, Satellite phones)
Output 4: Income Generating Activities

- Develop business plan for IGAs.
- Marketing of the services provided.
- Asset replacement fund established.
- Training of responsible staff on IGAs.
- Discussion on strategies and possible registration/consultancy wing to be initiated.
- Assign responsible staff (set job descriptions, targets, budgets, activities) to IGAs
- Develop policies and procedures (pricing, conflict of interest, ownership, staff use)
