PISP views lobbying and advocacy as an important means to ensuring pro-poor policies that balance the many special interests as opposed to ones that benefit narrow sections of the society. The main issues/problems that PISP deals with in this regard include community knowledge and participation gaps on national policy reforms, development of pro-poor policies, corruption, public resource mismanagement and lack of transparency and accountability in the distribution and use of public resources.

The main objective of the good governance program is to ensure equitable national resource distribution, efficient pubic service delivery, pro-poor and gender sensitive policy frameworks as well as transparent management and accountability for public resources exist at all levels developed through lobby, advocacy and peace building.

PISP focuses on these aspects (outputs) as a means to move forward the good governance agenda. These pillars include the following:

1. Peace Building and Conflict Management
Considering the disruptive affects of previously experienced conflicts in the area, this output area aims to contribute towards trust and harmonious co-existence among various groups and or communities in the project area. The activities would include:

  1. Engage local leaders in peace building and conflict management.
  2. Facilitate inter/intra community dialogues & capacity to relate well.
  3. Support inter-ethnic school sporting events and school peace clubs
  4. Formation, capacity building and or direct support to district peace committees on re-districting.
  5. Engage in shared programming amongst warring communities e.g. water for peace.
